MUX Switch

What a MUX switch means
A MUX switch is a hardware path inside some gaming laptops that lets the dedicated GPU connect directly to the display instead of passing frames through integrated graphics first.
That direct route can improve game performance and reduce latency when you are plugged in and using the laptop for gaming.
Why it matters
Without a MUX switch, some laptops lose performance because the integrated GPU stays in the display path. With a MUX switch, the laptop can choose between battery-friendly hybrid graphics and performance-focused discrete GPU mode.
How to check for one
Look in the manufacturer control app for hybrid, discrete, dGPU-only, or advanced Optimus modes. Product pages and reviews may also mention it, but the control app is the best confirmation on a specific unit.
